SEM2: 1:30PM- 2:15PM Next Generation Automation By Dave Enlund Have you thought about what the automation on your factory floor will look like in 10 years? Does the technology look the same as today? Are you prepared for the next generation of controls, where everything is connected and “Smart”? Can you easily get the data you need from instrument to insight, in real time, with low effort? Are your current control systems capable of handling the future and being components in a true “Smart Factory”? Control Systems on the market today do not have the capability to handle edge computing. They are not ready for Industry 4.0 and all the connectivity we will ask of it. Today’s systems are very Hardware centric, but the future is all about software centric systems. We believe the future of control systems is built around Universal Automation. With Universal Automation, the hardware is decoupled from the software. This gives customers the ability to easily implement control at the edge and choose the best-in-class products from any vendor. Dave Englund Applications Engineer for Schneider Electric supporting Industrial Automation control systems hardware and software design & development.
