ISA NIAGARA TECHNICAL MEETING
Wind Technology Basics Seminar
Micro Wind and more . . . where it works and why By:  Mark Dettmer
Monday, March 22, 2010 Toshiba Business Solutions, 6000 N Bailey Ave, Suite 1F, Amherst NY

5:30 pm Registration/Networking    6:00 pm—8:00 pm Seminar
The topic of wind energy utilization, be it captured by micro off grid tur-bine systems or the mega giant Clipper’s found on Lake Erie’s eastern shore, is a subject the media often misrepresents and the public misun-derstands. Our presentation “Micro Wind and more . . . where it works and why”, will deliver some wind technology basics and will help partici-pants gain a technological perspective above the public’s demand and outside the political fray.

This small wind fundamentals program has been extremely popular for three years running at the American Solar Energy Society’s convention and ISA attendees will be able to see first hand some of the actual com-mercial equipment that is driving a small but revolutionary world that is now part of the supporting background to industries like telecommunica-tions, broadband, weather and even earthquake monitoring, world wide. The Chief presenter, Mark Dettmer, Managing Director & Founder of Starboard Sun will join others from the Renewable energies field for this special program. Since his collage days, Mark has pursued a mission to develop affordable renewable energy applications integrating Wind, Solar Photovoltaic and Micro Hydraulic equipment for the world.

Since 1995, Mark has been involved with rural electrification programs in Mon-golia, Mainland China, Japan, Germany and of course here in North America. Mark Dettmer is also the developer of specialized quality control technologies for the Solar Energy industries and some of his wins include the “Solar Flare” (an advanced Sun Simulator for the Photovoltaic Industry) used by Leading Research Universities, Test Laboratories and Manufacturers alike – worldwide. Mark Dettmer’s current titles and positions include: Starboard Sun - Managing Director & Founder IMT Solar - V.P. Renewable Energies (USA & Germany) Audubon Machine Corporation – Partner & Board Member

ALL ARE WELCOME, JOIN US

We invite and encourage any Members, Student Members and Guests to attend any of our Technical Meetings, Seminars and Tours.

Unless otherwise indicated above, an RSVP is required for all Technical Meetings, Seminars and Tours. If you happen to be unable to RSVP, but would like to attend a meeting anyway, please do.  We won't get mad at you.  We do frown on people that do RSVP and then do not show up for the meeting.  This hurts everyone since the cost of your attendance is then absorbed by the Section and someone else may have been turned away in the case that a limited attendance event was filled.  For whatever reason, if you can't make good on your commitment, please call - so everyone has a chance.  Thank you!

All Members are welcome to attend our Board Meetings. This is where we go over the planning of our events and the financial state of the Niagara Frontier Section. Contact any board member if you are interested in getting involved with a committee or wish to be considered for nomination to an officer's position.

Everyone is invited to attend our Annual Tech Expo - This is a FREE event.
