Section President's Message |

|
As President of the ISA-Niagara Section for the 2008-2009 year, I wish to thank each member of the Section’s Board of Directors, each Committee Chair and each loyal member for your dedicated commitment and support to our Section. It is through your continued selfless volunteer efforts that this Section continues to increase in membership and contribution. The Tech EXPO is the source of great pride as it is the most comprehensive technical show in upstate New York. The Show presents an opportunity to attend relevant educational seminars, meet and network with other automation professionals as well see and share the latest in technologies with our local automation practitioners. Our ISA Western New York Section is also proud to publish our annual Membership Directory and comprehensive Buyer’s Guide. The Directory serves to connect automation products/services, manufacturers and our member representatives and distributors. The Buyer’s Guide is provided free of charge to the local automation community. Your copy can be obtained at the Tech EXPO or by contacting any board member. This year we took the first step in making the Buyer’s Guide and Directory more assessable and user-friendly by making it an integral part of the Section’s website. Soon, Section members will be able to enter and update their information through an input screen on the website. Our hope is that these features will enhance the usefulness of the ISA Directory and will increase traffic to the Website thereby, increasing the benefits of ISA membership. The Section’s Newsletter, the Transmitter, continues to be the voice of our Section by publicizing our activities, technical information and provides a vehicle for our members to advertise to the local automation community. Members are encouraged to support the Transmitter with advertising and technical information pertinent to our local needs. The Directory and Transmitter continue to provide our members an excellent opportunity to advertise to the local automation community at a very reasonable cost. This year the ISA Society proposed and Sections worldwide, voted on the name change from the “Instrumentation, Systems and Automation” to the “International Society of Automation.” Our new name embraces the ever important field of automation. With the challenges we as technical professionals now face in light of this ever-broadening, ever-expanding automation field, now more than ever the ISA-Niagara Frontier Section can play a vital part in professional success. Networking opportunities, educational seminars, even the ability to be part of defining, authoring and reviewing both current and proposed Standards, etc, membership has never been so important. I wish each of you success in your professional endeavors and personally extend an invitation to you to join our Membership, if you have not yet done so. I encourage you to take advantage of all that your Section offers by becoming an active participant of your Section. Attend one of the monthly Board Meetings or one of our many Section activities. Check the Transmitter for upcoming events. It has been my pleasure serving as your Section President. Best regards, Fred Braun |
