Made up of 3.1 million square feet on 190 acres, the plant employs over 1800 people. Since it’s opening in 1938, over 71 million engines have been produced in Tonawanda.
Tonawanda currently produces the Ecotec 2.5L/2.0L Turbo 4 Cylinder Engines, and the GEN5 Small Block V8 Engines. These engines have been used in numerous Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac models, including the 2014 Corvette, which is the most powerful, quickest, and most fuel efficient standard Corvette ever made.
